Case Pricing and Profit Potential
POST-STIX sells whole cases to your American Legion for use in your bar, canteen, or other post location. Each case includes 100 meat sticks, and shipping is free.
A case costs $135, which equals $1.35 per meat stick.
If you sell each meat stick for $2.00, you can earn $65 per case.
If you sell each meat stick for $2.50, you can earn up to $115 per case.
If you sell each meat stick for $3.00, you can earn $165 per case.
Recommended First Order
For your first order, we recommend starting with the first four American Legion Family flavors. Shown below in the display.
Reorder Strategy
For your reorder, add POW/MIA Dill along with the three flavors that sold most frequently from your first case. Future orders should focus on the flavors that perform best at your location.
How to Boost Slower-Selling Flavors
If a flavor is not selling as well, remove a few sticks, cut them into small sample pieces, and place them on napkins for your clientele to try. Sampling often helps customers discover a flavor they like, which can increase sales.
Youth and Community Fundraising Opportunity
Youth and Community Fundraising
If your American Legion has a baseball team, sponsors a Cub Scout pack, or has a Junior Auxiliary group, consider using meat sticks as a simple community fundraiser.
Suggested Setup
Take a couple of cases of meat sticks, a table, and a few Legion members to a high-traffic, veteran-friendly retail location such as Ace Hardware, Lowe’s, True Value, or Home Depot. Set up outside the store with permission, and have the youth group help sell the sticks.
Fundraising Price Options Sample
Sell individual sticks for $3 each.
Offer 4 sticks for $10.
Offer 8 sticks for $20.
Turning Sales into Membership Conversations
As customers purchase meat sticks, listen for anyone who mentions being a veteran or having a veteran in the family. When that happens, the Legion member at the table can stand up, introduce themselves, and start a friendly conversation about joining the local American Legion Family. If the team, Scout pack, or youth group earns $300 to $400 on a Saturday, that is a good fundraising result. If the local post also signs up two new members from those conversations, that is an even greater outcome for the entire post.
Department Outreach Opportunity: Email and Social Media
Department-Level Outreach
POST-STIX would like to help share the retail and fundraising sales opportunities with every post in a department. However, when the message comes directly from POST-STIX, there is a chance it may be filtered into spam, overlooked, or missed before it reaches local posts.
How Department Leadership Can Help
Department leadership can greatly increase the visibility and credibility of the message. If you are willing, POST-STIX can prepare an email for you to send directly to posts in your department, along with social media wording that can be shared through department pages, groups, or other official channels.
Why Email and Social Media Together Work
When the message comes from department leadership, posts are more likely to open it, read it, and give the opportunity serious consideration. Sharing the same message through department social media can further expand its reach, reinforce the opportunity, and make it easier for posts and members to share it locally. Together, email and social media help increase visibility, credibility, and engagement.
Retail Expansion Opportunity: Veteran-Friendly Retail Outlets
Expanding into Veteran-Friendly Retail Outlets
POST-STIX would also like to explore opportunities to place American Legion meat sticks in additional veteran-friendly retail locations, such as Lowe’s, True Value, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and similar stores that are frequently visited by veterans and their families.
Local, Regional, and Corporate Opportunities
We would be happy to connect with a local store and have a conversation about carrying the product. At the same time, we would also welcome introductions or communications at the regional or corporate level with any veteran-friendly retailers that may be a good fit.
Why Retail Placement Matters
Imagine checking out at Lowe’s and seeing American Legion meat sticks at the cash register. That kind of visibility creates a sense of pride and gives people another opportunity to see and support the American Legion Family beyond their local post.
Request for Connections
If you have communications, contacts, or connections with local, regional, or corporate representatives from these types of stores, we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with them.
Closing Thought
Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about POST-STIX and the opportunities available to support American Legion posts, youth programs, fundraising efforts, and membership growth. If any of these ideas could be a fit for your department, post, or retail connections, please reply to this email. We would welcome the opportunity to continue the conversation, answer questions, provide sample email or social media wording, and explore how we can work together.
